Wedding at Pähl Castle

Wenn ihr euch eine Hochzeit wünscht, die sich leicht, frei und ganz nach euch anfühlt, dann freue ich mich darauf, eure Geschichte an einem Ort wie diesem begleiten zu dürfen.
There are weddings that you always love to return to. For me, Pähl Castle is definitely one of them. Every time I have the privilege of attending a wedding here, I am thrilled all over again. And although I have experienced this special wedding location many times, this wedding was something very special. The reason lay in the details—or rather, in the lavender. Everywhere.
As soon as I arrived, it was clear that this day would be unique. Lavender was a recurring theme throughout the wedding: in the decorations, in small details, in the atmosphere. Lavender stands for confidence, balance, familiarity, and tenderness. These are qualities that perfectly describe the bride and groom and that could be felt throughout the day.
A wedding venue with character
Hochschloß Pähl is a wedding venue that doesn’t need to be loud to make an impression. Perched high above the village, with views of the countryside, it offers just the right setting for couples who value atmosphere, history, and tranquility.
The wedding ceremony took place directly in the castle. Old walls, warm light, and a palpable tranquility made this moment particularly intense. Everything felt personal, nothing staged. That is exactly what makes a wedding here so special: it can be just as it is.
Lavender, handmade details, and lots of heart
What made this boho wedding at Hochschloß Pähl so unique were the many loving details. Most of the decorations were handmade—by the bride herself and her hard-working helpers. Small signs, dried flowers, fabrics, glasses, wreaths. Nothing seemed random, but nothing was overdone either.
As a wedding photographer, I love weddings like this. Because here, the pictures not only tell the story of a beautiful day, but also of personality. You can see in the photos how much heart and soul went into every single detail. This kind of design is not perfect in the classic sense – but that’s exactly what makes it so honest.
What actually defines a boho wedding?
The term “boho wedding” is now everywhere. But what does it really mean? Essentially, it’s about breaking away from traditional wedding rules. No fixed guidelines, no “this is how it’s done.” Instead, the only thing that matters is what feels right for the bride and groom.
A boho wedding thrives on freedom, naturalness, and individuality. Natural materials, dried flowers, warm colors, and handmade elements often play a major role. But above all, it’s about attitude: getting married the way you want to—not the way it’s expected.
That’s exactly what was evident at this wedding at Hochschloß Pähl. Everything was relaxed, informal, and at the same time full of depth. This attitude is reflected not only in the course of the day, but also in the wedding photos. They appear light, lively, and authentic.
Celebration at Lake Starnberg
After the wedding ceremony, we continued on to the celebration venue at Lake Starnberg. Here, too, the lavender theme was consistently carried through. The decorations were finely tuned, never obtrusive, but always present. It was particularly beautiful how the indoor and outdoor areas were connected.
Lake Starnberg provided the perfect backdrop for this relaxed part of the day. The wide open spaces, the water, and that special light that creates a unique atmosphere, especially in the afternoon. This setting is a gift for wedding photos.
Another highlight was the wedding cake. Decorated with lavender, it not only looked gorgeous, but tasted just as good. Details like this often remain particularly memorable for guests—because they appeal to all the senses.
