The day began calmly with the bride’s getting ready. Surrounded by her closest friends, there was so much familiarity, warmth, and excitement in the air. That’s exactly the atmosphere I love about weddings. While there was laughing, hugging, and finishing touches, I captured all the little details: the dress, the jewelry, the shoes. Things that happen quietly in the background, but mean so much later on. To me, these moments are a core part of wedding photography because they tell the story from the very beginning.

First look in the boathouse: a private La Villa wedding moment

One true highlight was the first look in La Villa’s boathouse on Lake Starnberg. Just the two of them, no guests, no distractions. A moment filled with emotion, honest looks, and so much love and trust, plus that feeling of “it’s finally happening, the day is here.” Right after, we did a short couple shoot. It was a deliberate choice that paid off completely: the rest of the afternoon could be spent relaxed with their guests, and the couple didn’t have to leave the party later on. We also got to use the beautiful ceremony setup with the arch right away for moody, meaningful photos.

After a quick refresh break, the first guests arrived in La Villa’s garden. The perfect start to a free ceremony right by the lake, with an incredible setting and saxophone music in the background. And then that moment: Susanne arrived by boat across Lake Starnberg. Instant goosebumps. One of those scenes you never forget. The ceremony itself was deeply emotional, with tears, laughter, closeness, and their personal favorite songs. Everything was perfect, and it’s exactly why so many couples love the dreamlike atmosphere at Lake Starnberg.

Champagne toast, live cooking, and the orangery: the celebration at La Villa

Afterwards, the champagne reception featured live cooking right by the lake, relaxed, high-end, and simply delicious. Family photos, group shots, and cutting the cake flowed naturally into the day. When a small summer storm rolled in, we quickly moved into the beautifully decorated orangery. That’s where the wedding dinner began, accompanied by heartfelt, very personal surprises from family and friends. Moments like these made it so clear how loved they are, and what an incredible circle of people they have around them.

Party and emotion: celebrating into the night

The vibe was truly one of a kind all day long. The emotional first dance was the perfect bridge into a joyful, high-energy party full of laughter, dancing, and celebration. One of those days that stays with you, and still passes far too quickly.
