Engagement shoot at Lake Eibsee

If you want to capture your engagement with real emotion, I’d love to join you for your engagement shoot. Easy, honest, and exactly as you are.
This engagement shoot at Lake Eibsee was definitely one of those sessions you don’t forget anytime soon. Not just because of the stunning scenery, but because of the story behind it. Because believe it or not, the proposal almost went completely wrong.
But let’s start from the beginning.
The idea: engagement photos at Lake Eibsee
Christoph called me shortly before their trip to Lake Eibsee. Even on the phone, I could tell how much this moment meant to him. His plan was clear: the perfect engagement for his Rylee. Nothing over the top, just an honest, emotional moment, captured during an engagement shoot at Lake Eibsee.
Together, we mapped out how to make it happen exactly the way he wanted for her. Low-key, natural, and above all, real. No staged scenes, just engagement photos that reflect the emotion of the day.

Why Lake Eibsee was the perfect choice
Christoph and Rylee met while they were studying in Denver. Rylee is originally from Montana, from a region with lakes, mountains, and landscapes that feel a lot like the Alps. That’s exactly why Lake Eibsee was the perfect place for the proposal, especially since they were both living in Dusseldorf at the time.
Turquoise water, the Zugspitze massif in the background, and that calm, quiet feeling Lake Eibsee has. For Rylee, it felt a little like home. And that’s what makes engagement photos at Lake Eibsee so special. The landscape brings out emotion instantly.
The plan, and the unexpected chaos
The plan was set. I arrived early, tucked away, camera ready. Then came Christoph’s agreed signal: they were almost there. Even my own nerves kicked in. Moments like this still feel special, even after many years of photographing.
Everything was going perfectly, until right before they arrived. Out of nowhere, a group of joggers rounded the corner, took their clothes off without hesitation, and jumped naked into Lake Eibsee. Yes, really. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I probably wouldn’t believe it either.
A quick moment of uncertainty
Rylee suddenly didn’t want to go down to the lake anymore, and kept walking. For a second, I panicked. Was this the moment everything fell apart?
Christoph stayed calm and did his best, and after a little while, the two of them actually came back. The lake was quiet again. The stage was clear.

The proposal and the “yes”
Christoph got down on one knee in front of his Rylee. Quiet, present, completely in the moment. An honest, emotional scene with nothing staged about it. And of course, she said yes.
A moment they’ll never forget, and one they now get to keep forever in their engagement photos. That’s exactly what makes an engagement shoot so meaningful.

Engagement photos full of emotion
Right after the proposal, we took a little time for a short couple session. Freshly engaged, full of эмоtions, still completely in the moment. That’s often when the most beautiful images happen.
Of course, the ring had to be part of it, and we captured it in a way that felt special and intentional. Rylee was able to send the photos to her family and friends in the US the very same day. Not quick phone snapshots, but real memories.
More than just an engagement shoot
An engagement shoot at Lake Eibsee is so much more than “just” a photo session. It’s adventure, a racing heart, and sometimes a little bit of chaos. But in the end, it becomes exactly the kind of story you’ll still be telling years from now.
