An elegant summer wedding on Lake Constance

It was a wonderful day in July with perfect weather. It couldn’t have been a better day. Early in the morning, I set off for Lake Constance, filled with anticipation for this wedding day. I already had a feeling it would be special – but this day truly exceeded all expectations.

The day began at the Franciscan Church in Überlingen. As soon as we entered, there was a special atmosphere in the air.

Soft light streamed through the windows, and the guests arrived one by one – full of anticipation, a little excitement, and that quiet nervousness that accompanies such moments.

After the groom’s personal welcome, things slowly quieted down. Everyone took their seats. And then came that moment.

The Bride’s Entrance – An Emotional Moment

The door opened. The bride was escorted to the altar by her parents. She walked down the aisle very slowly. All eyes were on her. You could feel just how emotional this moment was. For her. For her parents. And, of course, for him, who stood at the front and couldn’t take his eyes off her.

The entrance was moving, sincere, and full of emotion. The wedding dress – simply put: perfect.

The ceremony itself was solemn yet deeply personal. Amid the sounds of the organ, warm words, and quiet emotions, there was this special feeling: a life together is beginning now. Even though non-religious ceremonies are currently in high demand, church weddings hold a unique depth for me. This blend of history, rituals, and meaning creates a setting that feels particularly meaningful and precious.

As a wedding photographer, I love this atmosphere – venerable walls, a grand space, and two people looking at each other as if nothing else in the world existed.

Wedding on Lake Constance with a boat ride to Friedrichshafen

After the ceremony, we stepped out into the summer sun – through Überlingen straight to the boat. A ride across Lake Constance is always something very special.

The fresh breeze, the sparkling water, smiling guests with a glass in hand – and right in the middle of it all, the bride and groom.

There was toasting, congratulating, and laughter. A champagne reception on the water, opening remarks, and little surprises. The trip to Friedrichshafen flew by.

Mediterranean Wedding Celebration at the Friedrichshafen Yacht Club

The celebration took place at a stylish yacht club in Friedrichshafen – right on the lake. Everything was set up outdoors, with a view of the water and the setting sun.

The long table was lovingly decorated: lemons as pops of color, candlelight, natural elegance. It felt like a summer evening in Italy – only on Lake Constance. As the sun set, a warm, golden light emerged. We used this exact moment for the couple’s photo shoot.

These moments belong only to the couple. Peace, closeness, time together. For me as a wedding photographer, these are the most precious moments of the day. The location right by the water, under the trees and on the pier, was simply perfect. Even getting our feet wet was worth it.

Afterward, we took family photos. I always plan these in advance with my couples so that everything goes quickly and smoothly – while still capturing all the important memories.

An Outdoor Wedding Celebration – From Dinner to Festival

The outdoor dinner had a very special atmosphere. An Italian-inspired menu, heartfelt speeches, and the soft clinking of glasses. After dinner, the party began – with a DJ and a saxophone.

Then came the moment no one will ever forget.

Friends of the bride and groom had organized their own band. A stage on a trailer. The lake in the background.

What followed wasn’t just a program item – it was a festival.

Barefoot on the grass, music, laughter, singing along. Pure joy of life.

As a photographer, I sometimes pause in moments like these. Not to take a picture, but to feel. This mix of love, friendship, and energy is what makes weddings so special. After this highlight, we headed back to the venue. The DJ and saxophonist continued to entertain the guests through the night.

This wedding was elegant, sophisticated, and meticulously planned down to the last detail – yet at the same time, it was filled with a sense of lightness and genuine emotion.

It demonstrated that true exclusivity doesn’t have to be flashy. It lies in the feeling, the atmosphere, and the moments in between. From the church in Überlingen to the boat ride, the dinner by the lake, and an open-air festival – this day was a total work of art.
